SHOP APOTHEKE EUROPE PARTICIPATES IN CAMPAIGN "TIME FOR CLIMATE ACTION" AS PART OF EARTH DAY 2021.

  • Commitment to climate protection together with other leading digital companies.
  • Attention-grabbing customer campaigns from 22 to 25 April 2021, encouraging people to get involved.
  • SHOP APOTHEKE EUROPE climate neutral since autumn 2020.

Sevenum, the Netherlands, 19 April 2021. SHOP APOTHEKE EUROPE is raising awareness for climate protection among customers and employees with numerous campaigns from 22 to 25 April 2021 as part of this year's Earth Day. As a member of the Leaders for Climate Action (LFCA) organisation, an association of more than 300 leading digital companies, SHOP APOTHEKE EUROPE is taking part in the "Time for Climate Action" campaign. The goal: Together, the players want to reach more than 50 million people and thereby implement more than one million concrete climate protection measures.

This week, SHOP APOTHEKE EUROPE is not only taking care of the health of its customers but is also using the company's prominence and reach to draw attention to another patient: our planet earth.

Thus, when purchasing sustainable products, there are attractive discounts as well as additional points from the RedPoints customer loyalty programme. Furthermore, the online pharmacy uses its webshop, social media presences and other channels to draw attention to the campaign and thus encourage customers, employees and business partners to take action themselves. The campaign website www.tfca.earth/shop-apotheke also serves this purpose, enabling everyone to find out in just a few minutes what they can do themselves to reduce their carbon footprint with simple means.

"We deal with our contribution to climate protection in a structured way. It is a measure against which we align our corporate actions," says Stefan Feltens, CEO at SHOP APOTHEKE EUROPE. "To this end, we first analysed the emissions that we cause as a company and fully compensated for them for the first time last year. In addition, we created incentives to save emissions by introducing a kind of 'internal CO2 tax' for all departments."

With its climate protection measures, SHOP APOTHEKE EUROPE wants to actively contribute to limiting global warming to well below two degrees Celsius. This goal, which was formulated in the final declaration of the Paris Climate Summit in 2015, is only possible with the help of companies. With the members of Leaders for Climate Action, it has found many strong supporters in Germany and Europe for this plan.

For example, digital companies such as Spotify, Ecosia, Home24, ebay, Delivery Hero or Doctolib also belong to the organisation. All supporters of the initiative have committed to the "Green Pledge", with which they affirm to actively engage in climate protection on a corporate and personal level.

With the campaign "Time for Climate Action", many more climate protectors are to be added in April. Together, the sub-campaigns reach more than 50 million people and motivate them to take action, for example by switching to green electricity or a sustainable search engine. The campaign website also allows everyone to calculate their personal carbon footprint and thus find ways to make their own savings.
